Anyone who has spoken to me about their cycle, will have had me wax lyrical about cervical fluid at some point.  It is a pretty special substance that not only aids fertility in multiple ways, but can also also tell you so much about your menstrual health.

For me, it is an essential part of my charting practice and it is something I recommend to most of my clients.  If you're on this post, the chances are you already chart your cervical fluid or you are at least attempting to.  It can be difficul...

I often get asked variations of, "can I have periods if I'm not ovulating?" or, "I have regular periods so I must be ovulating" or "I have regular periods so I must be fertile" and I have been asked to help clear this up.

I did a post a few years ago on what qualifies as a period, but one of the key definitions of a menstrual period is that it occurs after an ovulation.  So, the short answer is, if you are not ovulating, you are not having periods.

But as with all things, this is a bit...

One really common question I hear is, I know I am not pregnant, so why is my period late?  There are a number of reasons why this might be and to get to the bottom of them, you need to know, when you ovulated and how long your luteal phase (the number of days between ovulation and the start of your period) usually is.

You can check out my posts on how to tell whether you are ovulating here.

So let's say you have ovulated and your luteal phase is hitting 3 days or longer than it usually is, and you...

One question I'm regularly asked by my private clients is "my period is 22 days/56 days what can I do?".  You can pretty much insert any number of days into that question, it still won't change my response which is: are you ovulating and when?

Ovulation is pretty awesome.  Not only does it enable us to get pregnant (if we want to) but it helps with so many other important things, stabilising our mood after the drop in oestrogen, nourishing our thyroid, bone health, heart health and breast he...

I love ovulation, it is the time in my cycle when my confidence is high, I feel good,  I have so much energy and confidence, I feel on top of the world.  Oh, and libido is at its peak too.  This should be a great time in our cycle but imagine this: you are in your ovulation groove and life is going well, then you get hit by an excruciating pain that came out of nowhere.

It may be in the front of your abdomen or even in your back.  You are struggling to breathe through it and get round t...

I cringed a lot when I first started hearing about cervical fluid but it is such an important part of our health and fertility, we should be paying so much more attention to it.  Unfortunately, it gets shrouded in mystery and most women don't realise how valuable and important it is.

What Is It?

Cervical fluid (also called Cervical Mucus, CM for short or CF) is a mucus produced by our cervix, the lower part of the womb.  A lot of people will dismiss it as discharge, but, it is an essential part of...

Those of you who have been on my webinars will know this is kind of a trick question, because the definition of a period means you have to have ovulated.  However, there are so many times you can have a flow of blood that doesn't occur after ovulation.

I have so many clients say to me, "I know I ovulate because I have a period" but when I start them off charting, it turns out they are not actually ovulating at all.

So What Is Going On?

If you aren't ovulating, but you are producing some kind of oes...

A popular question my clients ask me regularly, is "do I ovulate every month"?  This is a great question as our hormones, periods and even our overall health relies on us ovulating.  From the full hormonal cycle, to breast health, bone health and heart health, it is important that we ensure we are ovulating when we are supposed to, however, it is something we take for granted, and even choose to switch off by taking hormonal contraceptives.  If you want to know more about this, sign up for the c...

I have so many clients asking me the same thing over and over again when it comes to ovulation predictor kits (OPKs).

How long from when I tested positive do I have to conceive?

Is the kit working?

It says I am ovulating but I don't think I am?

Are there other ways of telling whether I am ovulating?

Whether you are wanting to find out about whether you are ovulating from a health/wellness perspective or you are actively trying to conceive, it is important to understand how ovulation works and what it...
