One of my favourite therapies that I have been practising for years is essential oils and they are now suddenly fashionable in the wellness world.  Whilst these power plant medicines can have some incredible effects on your health and wellbeing, I always like to mention first, that they are not a substitute for good quality nutrition and a healthy balanced lifestyle.

That being said there is a lot that they can be used for including as first aid for period pain.  Unfortunately, research in essent...

Do you ever get tired shortly after eating?  Maybe you need that midmorning snack or 3.30 pick me up to get through the day?

Perhaps you have been diagnosed with PCOS, Insulin resistance, pre-diabetes or even type 2 diabetes (or suspect you have them).  Maybe you have irregular cycles, don't ovulate regularly, struggle to lose weight around the middle, have facial hair or thinning hair around your parting or the top of your scalp (so unfair, right)?

What makes it worse is when you end up beat...

I love ovulation, it is the time in my cycle when my confidence is high, I feel good,  I have so much energy and confidence, I feel on top of the world.  Oh, and libido is at its peak too.  This should be a great time in our cycle but imagine this: you are in your ovulation groove and life is going well, then you get hit by an excruciating pain that came out of nowhere.

It may be in the front of your abdomen or even in your back.  You are struggling to breathe through it and get round t...

In my post "Signs That Your Period Needs A Helping Hand" we covered the signs that there is something wrong with your periods.  In this post, we are going to cover what the main causes of period problems are.  You may have one of these or a combination, which is why it can be hard to pinpoint the exact cause or why one protocol may not fix the whole issue.

1.  Times of Stress or Illness

Reproduction and our whole reproductive system is not essential to our survival.  So it makes sense that wh...

It is never too early to start preparing for the menopause (check out this blog post for when to prepare and this one for what the menopause is).  The earlier you start, you can ensure that you are protecting your health in later years.

Here are my top 5 tips on preparing yourself for the transition:

1.  Start charting your cycle

I prefer one of the symptom-thermal methods or charting that I teach such as Natural Family Planning or Fertility Awareness, however, anything that you start tracking such...

Do you ever get a migraine just before or during your period?  It can be so debilitating, you just can't get out of bed (or the bathroom) and it feels like no one understands.  Unfortunately, there are a number of causes so it isn't always easy to pinpoint what the cause is, all of them are great ways of ensuring optimal hormonal and reproductive health.

I know from experience, that I tried plenty of remedies when I got migraines, but I now know that dealing with the root cause is more...

Endometriosis is a very painful condition which is very often ignored and many women find that they will have to go to their doctors for years before they get any form or investigation or diagnosis.  Even then, their pain is often dismissed and they are told to either, just take painkillers to get on with it or told to have children to correct the problem.  In women with complete families, hysterectomy is often advised, despite the health challenges that can still occur after the surgery and the...

New Year is the time for new year's resolutions which I am not a big fan of btw, as I believe if you want to make a change you can start any second, why wait until the 1st January.  But I am a huge fan of new habits.

When I talk about lowering stress (which can affect your periods, cycles, moods, PMS, menopause, cardiovascular health, mental health, digestive health and immune system function to name a few things), most people tell me they don't have time, money or other resources to do any self...
