One of my favourite therapies that I have been practising for years is essential oils and they are now suddenly fashionable in the wellness world.  Whilst these power plant medicines can have some incredible effects on your health and wellbeing, I always like to mention first, that they are not a substitute for good quality nutrition and a healthy balanced lifestyle.

That being said there is a lot that they can be used for including as first aid for period pain.  Unfortunately, research in essent...

Do you ever get tired shortly after eating?  Maybe you need that midmorning snack or 3.30 pick me up to get through the day?

Perhaps you have been diagnosed with PCOS, Insulin resistance, pre-diabetes or even type 2 diabetes (or suspect you have them).  Maybe you have irregular cycles, don't ovulate regularly, struggle to lose weight around the middle, have facial hair or thinning hair around your parting or the top of your scalp (so unfair, right)?

What makes it worse is when you end up beat...

When I originally wrote this post, it was with the aim of helping women who have emotions at the root cause of their period, or even lack of period problems and whilst that is still the case, I feel that I also have to acknowledge and reflect that there are a number of events over the recent months that have left the world stunned.  So many people  are in a state of shock and needing to heal as well as those who are dealing with their own health issues.

One of my favourite techniques, Emotio...

So many of my nutritional therapy clients come to me for a nutritional plan to fix many of their issues with periods and fertility and I can draw up a detailed meal plan with the exact nutritional requirements suitable for them.  They are so excited, we talk about it and they go home and maybe try a meal from it on day 1.

They may even do three days worth of meals but eventually they all fall off the wagon.  The thing is that making drastic changes to your nutritional routines, are very unlikely...

The most common hormonal imbalance I see after stress is oestrogen dominance.  It sounds really complicated and overly medical but nearly every woman I have worked with has experienced it at some point in their life. Oestrogen dominance simply means that oestrogen is too high in comparison to progesterone at the point in the cycle where progesterone should be high (e.g. the luteal phase).

This could mean that:

  • Oestrogen levels are normal, but your progesterone is too low.

  • Oestrogen levels...

Endometriosis is a very painful condition which is very often ignored and many women find that they will have to go to their doctors for years before they get any form or investigation or diagnosis.  Even then, their pain is often dismissed and they are told to either, just take painkillers to get on with it or told to have children to correct the problem.  In women with complete families, hysterectomy is often advised, despite the health challenges that can still occur after the surgery and the...

Last month I attended the Fertility Show in London, (you may have seen me on the Fertilty Massage Therapy stand).  I love doing these shows as it is great to hear people's thoughts and answer questions that they may be too embarressed to ask other people.  It also shows me how many incredible potential parents there are out there who don't yet have their family and re-affirms the work I do.

At the end of this year's show, another exhibitor asked me "I get that you can help periods, but I don...

So, I am guessing by now you must have seen the latest news on Gwyneth Paltrow going for a Womb Spa or Womb Cleanse, and wondering what on earth that is, and what is the benefit.  I have even had a journalist on the phone asking me about womb steams, how they work and what my thoughts are.

So I thought I would share my experience of this wonderful yet simple therapy with you.

Where Did They Come From?

Womb steams have been done in China for many years and Victorian women in England used to do them...

One question my Womb Massage and Reflexology clients ask me a lot is: “how much period pain is normal?”  If you (like me) have ever been doubled up with a hot water bottle having taken more painkillers and evening primrose tablets than a well stocked pharmacy, praying and pleading with the great unknown, you will have asked this question to yourself on a regular basis.

I remember in my training to finding out: “period pain ISN’T normal, it’s a symptom” which is great news as that means that...

Do you suffer from unknown vaginal irritation that doesn’t go away, despite antibiotics and other thrush treatments?

Does it get worse around your bleed?  Do you suffer from endometriosis, heavy bleeds or period pain?

You may have tried abdominal massage, changing your diet, yoga, castor oil packs but not noticed much of a difference.  It may surprise you that your feminine hygiene products could be to blame.

Irritation

I recently found out that 75% of UK Gynaecologists surveyed, thought that unexpl...
